    Appeal Refused!

Appeal for a Quarry and Landfill Refused!

Planning Officers David Love and Angus Gilmour recommended Refusal. The issue was finally decided by Planning Council Members Wednesday, 23rd August 2017, at Council Chamber, Kilmory, Lochgilphead.   Council Members unanimously voted to refuse the application.  Notwithstanding this emphatic rejection by the Public, Planners, MSPS, Local Councils and Councillors, an Appeal was made by the Applicants.  This was considered by Reporter, Mrs Lorna McCallum, who refused the appeal on 24th April 2018.  You can read the full Reports for Refusal on this link:

    What was this all about?

Full planning application was submitted to the Argyll and Bute Council to create a Sand and Gravel Extraction Quarry and Landfill in Glen Creran with permission of the Landowner, Dominique Collinet, a Belgian Businessman, stated at Companies house to be usually resident in Luxembourg, who had agreed to allow extraction of Gravel and Sand for commercial profit reasons. The Application had been submitted by A&L McCrae Ltd. Mr Collinet stated at a meeting with Residents of Glen Creran  during 2016 that his intention was to give permission for Applicants to submit further applications after the first period of 5 years so that the Quarry would then extend further down Glen Creran for a period of up to 25 years to a point opposite Invercreran House!  Over 2,000 members of the public objected!
